NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0843 PM CDT Fri Jun 14 2024

   Areas affected...western Kansas...southern Nebraska

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 416...

   Valid 150143Z - 150245Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 416
   continues.

SUMMARY...Threat for damaging winds and a few instances of severe
   hail continues within WW416.

DISCUSSION...A line of thunderstorms continues across western Kansas
into southern Nebraska with recent reports of 50-60 mph in
northwestern Kansas. This line continues to consolidate along
outflow surging to the east and northeast. Surface objective
analysis continues to show ample instability ahead of this line,
with 1500-2000 J/kg MLCAPE and steep low to mid-level lapse rates
across central Kansas/southern Nebraska. This environment was also
sampled in 00z soundings from DDC (Dodge City, KS) and LBF (North
Platte, NE) which observed steep lapse rates and large instability
throughout the profile. The risk of damaging wind and some instances
of hail will continue through the next few hours.
