   Areas affected...Northern Georgia...South Carolina

   Concerning...Tornado Watch 214...

   Valid 090616Z - 090815Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 214 continues.

SUMMARY...A wind damage, hail and isolated tornado threat will
likely continue across northern Georgia and western South Carolina
over the next couple hours. The threats are expected to eventually
spread east-southeastward into north-central Georgia and central
South Carolina, where additional weather watch issuance may be
   needed.

DISCUSSION...The latest hi-resolution radar imagery from Atlanta
shows an MCS oriented from east-to-west from northern Georgia into
far western South Carolina. The RAP suggests that MLCAPE ranges from
near 2000 J/kg in northwest Georgia to around 750 J/kg across
central South Carolina. Regional WSR-88D VWPs at Atlanta, GA and
Columbia, SC have 0-6 km shear in the 40 to 50 knot range,
suggesting that supercell development will continue. The strongest
low-level shear is in South Carolina, where 0-3 km storm-relative
helicity is estimated to be near 400 m2/s2, according to the RAP.
This should continue to support an isolated tornado threat with the
more intense rotating storms. Wind damage will be possible along the
entire length of the MCS, with the greatest potential along the
leading edge of the faster-moving bowing line segments.
