   SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 201
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   130 PM CDT SUN JUN 1 2014

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     WESTERN IOWA
     NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST KANSAS
     CENTRAL AND EASTERN NEBRASKA
     FAR SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA

   * EFFECTIVE THIS SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 130 PM UNTIL
     1000 PM CDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     SCATTERED LARGE HAIL LIKELY WITH ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS
       TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE
     SCATTERED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH LIKELY
     A TORNADO OR TWO POSSIBLE

   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 80
   STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 50 MILES EAST
   NORTHEAST OF YANKTON SOUTH DAKOTA TO 40 MILES SOUTHWEST OF
   CONCORDIA KANSAS.  FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

   DISCUSSION...STORMS ARE INTENSIFYING ALONG THE SRN FLANK OF A
   PERSISTENT MCS OVER NEBRASKA....WITH NEW STORMS DEVELOPING EAST OF
   THE COMPLEX.  THE ENVIRONMENT SOUTH AND EAST OF THE SYSTEM IS
   INCREASINGLY UNSTABLE WITH MLCAPE TO 2000 J/KG...AND STRENGTHENING
   WINDS ALOFT ARE CONTRIBUTING TO FAVORABLE VERTICAL FOR SEVERE
   STORMS.  ACTIVITY WILL SPREAD EWD WITH TIME WITH POTENTIAL FOR
   PRIMARILY LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WIND GUSTS.

   AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
   TO 2 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60
   KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 550. MEAN STORM
   MOTION VECTOR 26025.
