   Mesoscale Discussion 0674
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0329 AM CDT Tue May 07 2024

   Areas affected...North-central Arkansas

   Concerning...Tornado Watch 193...

   Valid 070829Z - 071030Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 193 continues.

SUMMARY...A wind damage and isolated tornado threat will likely
continue across parts of north-central Arkansas late tonight. A
watch extension is planned to the east of WW 193.

DISCUSSION...Latest hi-resolution radar imagery from Little Rock
shows a well-developed and intense short line segment over
northwestern Arkansas. These storms are located along the
northeastern edge of moderate instability, where the RAP is
analyzing MLCAPE in the 1500 to 2000 J/kg range. The RAP also is
analyzing a 50 to 60 knot low-level jet over far northwestern
Arkansas, which is likely impacting this convection. The latest
WSR-88D VWP at Little Rock, AR has 0-6 km near 50 knots and 0-3 km
storm-relative helicity around 650 m2/s2. This environment will
likely continue to support bowing line segments with embedded
rotation and tornado potential. Wind damage will also be likely
along the leading edge of any bowing segment. The threat will affect
ares to the north of Little Rock within an hour or two. The watch
will be extended to the east of WW 193 to account for the increased
   severe potential.
