   Mesoscale Discussion 1166
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0546 PM CDT Thu Jun 20 2019

   Areas affected...south-central Minnesota

   Concerning...Severe potential...Watch possible

   Valid 202246Z - 202345Z

   Probability of Watch Issuance...40 percent

SUMMARY...A cluster of strong to severe thunderstorms persists
across Redwood/Brown counties currently. A WW is being considered,
and trends will continue to be monitored.

DISCUSSION...Storms in the discussion area have evolved into a small
cluster of semi-discrete cells. These storms are in an environment
characterized by moderate instability and relatively weak low-level
shear, though it appears that cells have recently favorably
interacted with a warm front/stationary boundary in the region and
acquired occasional updraft rotation. This has results in
occasional instances of large hail, funnel clouds, and even a brief
tornado within the past 15 minutes or so. Storms have also taken on
a rightward-moving component as well, with updraft motion along the
boundary suggestive of possible persistence toward the MN/IA border
   through the evening.

Given these trends, a WW issuance may be needed especially if storms
   maintain their intensity.
