   Tornado Watch Number 478
   NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   855 PM EDT Wed Jul 12 2023

   The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

   * Tornado Watch for portions of 
     Northern Indiana
     Southern Lower Michigan
     Northwest Ohio
     Lake Erie
     Lake Michigan

   * Effective this Wednesday night and Thursday morning from 855 PM
     until 300 AM EDT.

   * Primary threats include...
     A couple tornadoes possible
     Isolated damaging wind gusts to 65 mph possible

   SUMMARY...Strong/severe thunderstorms including a few supercells are
   expected to develop generally eastward across the region tonight,
   with some tornado potential aside from locally damaging winds.

   The tornado watch area is approximately along and 50 statute miles
   north and south of a line from 25 miles west southwest of Benton
   Harbor MI to 20 miles east northeast of Detroit MI. For a complete

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for
   tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
   area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
   threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
   and possible warnings.

   AVIATION...Tornadoes and a few severe thunderstorms with hail
   surface and aloft to 1 inch. Extreme turbulence and surface wind
   gusts to 55 knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean
   storm motion vector 27025.
