   Tornado Watch Number 455
   NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   120 PM EDT Thu Aug 27 2020

   The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

   * Tornado Watch for portions of 
     Far northwest Connecticut
     Far western Massachusetts
     South-central and southeast New York
     Far northeast Pennsylvania

   * Effective this Thursday afternoon and evening from 120 PM until
     700 PM EDT.

   * Primary threats include...
     A couple tornadoes possible
     Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts
       to 75 mph possible
     Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
       inches in diameter possible

   SUMMARY...Multiple supercells will spread east-southeast across the
   region this afternoon with a risk for all severe hazards.

   The tornado watch area is approximately along and 45 statute miles
   north and south of a line from 5 miles south southwest of Ithaca NY
   to 35 miles east northeast of Poughkeepsie NY. For a complete

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for
   tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
   area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
   threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
   and possible warnings.

   AVIATION...Tornadoes and a few severe thunderstorms with hail
   surface and aloft to 2 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind
   gusts to 65 knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 550. Mean
   storm motion vector 28040.
