   Tornado Watch Number 453
   NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   900 PM CDT Wed Aug 26 2020

   The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

   * Tornado Watch for portions of 
     Louisiana
     Southwest Mississippi
     Far East Texas
     Coastal Waters

   * Effective this Wednesday night and Thursday morning from 900 PM
     until 800 AM CDT.

   * Primary threats include...
     A few tornadoes likely

   SUMMARY...Hurricane Laura will approach the coast and make landfall
   tonight, with a very strong low-level wind field overspreading the
   region, accounting for the possibility of tornadoes through late
   tonight and the morning hours of Thursday.

   The tornado watch area is approximately along and 110 statute miles
   east and west of a line from 20 miles northeast of Natchitoches LA
   to 45 miles south southeast of Intracoastal City LA. For a complete

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for
   tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
   area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
   threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
   and possible warnings.

   AVIATION...Tornadoes and a few severe thunderstorms with hail
   surface and aloft to 0 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind
   gusts to 60 knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean
   storm motion vector 15030.
