Mesoscale Discussion 0658
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1027 PM CDT Fri Apr 28 2023
Areas affected...South Texas
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 181...
Valid 290327Z - 290430Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 181
continues.
SUMMARY...An isolated severe threat is expected to develop across
parts of south Texas late this evening. The threat should remain
marginal, and additional weather watch issuance is not anticipated.
DISCUSSION...The latest radar imagery from the Brownsville WSR-88D
shows a line of strong to severe thunderstorms straddling the
Mexico-U.S. border near Falcon Village, Texas. A supercell is
ongoing right along the river. This storm will likely hold together
for another hour or two, with potential to produce wind damage and
isolated large hail. Other storms may also develop and move into
south Texas. However, as instability weakens late this evening, the
severe threat should become more isolated with time. For this
reason, additional weather watch issuance appears unlikely.
