   Areas affected...Southeast CO...Eastern NM

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 262...

   Valid 130017Z - 130215Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 262
   continues.

SUMMARY...Isolated severe thunderstorms will continue across ww262.

DISCUSSION...Weak steering currents are contributing to the
reluctance of convection to propagate away from steeper low-level
lapse rate environment. Isolated thunderstorms have congregated off
the higher terrain over Las Animas County CO and around the Las
Vegas NM region. Over the last half hour or so, visible satellite
imagery suggests storm-top venting is perhaps a bit stronger as
anvil debris is beginning to expand more substantially.
Additionally, IR imagery shows cooling cloud tops and this could
lead to storm clusters that may form enough cold pool to eventually
spread southeast toward the northwest TX Panhandle. Whether this
activity is able to track along the instability axis is likely
predicated on an established cold pool, and this may take a few
   hours.
