   Mesoscale Discussion 0818
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0922 PM CDT Sun May 30 2021

Areas affected...portions of far southeast New Mexico into west
   Texas

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 227...

   Valid 310222Z - 310345Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 227
   continues.

SUMMARY...The severe threat continues across Severe Thunderstorm
Watch 227. Large hail may continue with the more discrete storms as
damaging gust potential increases with line segments that develop.

DISCUSSION...Multicellular clusters and transient supercells (some
with a history of producing marginally severe hail along the TX/NM
border) are ongoing across western portions of Severe Thunderstorm
Watch 227. Some severe hail may continue to accompany the stronger,
more discrete storms for a couple more hours given the availability
of 1000+ J/kg MLCAPE across the Cap Rock/Rolling Plains. Though
convective inhibition has been slowly increasing with the onset of
nocturnal cooling, cold pool mergers and resultant upscale growth
may compensate to support a damaging gust threat through the
   evening.
