   Areas affected...MT

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 497...

   Valid 080027Z - 080230Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 497
   continues.

SUMMARY...Isolated severe thunderstorms are expected to continue
   across MT this evening.

DISCUSSION...Upper ridge will continue to flatten across the
northern Rockies this evening as heights fall ahead of WA/OR
short-wave trough. As a result, belt of stronger mid-level flow
extends across the northern Great Basin-ID-MT-SK and within this
flow several disturbances are lifting northeast. One such feature is
located over the Snake River Valley in southern ID. Another weaker
disturbance may be ejecting across central MT, per recent expanding
clusters of convection. Over the last hour or so, strong heating
across northeast WY into southeast MT has contributed to recent
thunderstorm intensification over Big Horn/Rosebud Counties. This
activity will soon lift northeast of ww497. Immediate downstream
counties will likely be added to the watch to account for this
   expanding threat.
