   Mesoscale Discussion 0879
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0940 AM CDT Wed May 29 2019

   Areas affected...Portions of central/eastern OK...northwestern
   AR...and southwestern MO

   Concerning...Severe potential...Watch likely

   Valid 291440Z - 291545Z

   Probability of Watch Issuance...80 percent

SUMMARY...Ongoing thunderstorms should continue to strengthen this
morning into the afternoon with mainly a large hail and damaging
wind threat. Watch issuance is likely soon.

DISCUSSION...Several thunderstorm clusters ongoing at 1440Z
along/ahead of a cold front will likely continue moving
east-northward into a favorable environment to support severe
hail/wind through the remainder of the morning. MLCAPE of 2000-2500
J/kg and effective bulk shear of generally 40-50 kt will easily
support updraft organization. Large hail will be possible with any
supercell structures, and damaging winds may occur with the more
clustery convection. In addition, a tornado or two will be possible,
although the low-level flow is forecast to gradually weaken through
much of the daytime hours. Additional storm development is likely
through the early afternoon across eastern OK into northwestern AR
and southwestern MO, and watch issuance is likely soon.
