NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK

Areas affected...Much of Pennsylvania and New Jersey into northern
   Maryland and Delaware

   Concerning...Tornado Watch 274...

   Valid 290007Z - 290200Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 274 continues.

SUMMARY...The severe threat continues across Tornado Watch 0274 over
the next few hours, but the threat has been trending downward in
intensity. Isolated damaging wind gusts and large hail remain
possible with the more intense, sustained storms. A tornado also
cannot be ruled out, particularly with the more intense, discrete
structures in far east Pennsylvania into New Jersey.

DISCUSSION...Convection persists across much of the southwestern,
northeastern, and southeastern portions of Tornado Watch 0274.
Instability has been overall decreasing across the watch area with
the onset of nocturnal cooling/gradual stabilization of the boundary
layer. Storms in western Pennsylvania have gusted out within the
past hour or so, and several of the supercell structures in central
Pennsylvania have also dissipated (with two supercell structures
remaining in southern New Jersey, and other supercells in progress
along the northeast Pennsylvania/northwest New Jersey border).
Elsewhere, a second band of convection has initiated across northern
Pennsylvania, but has struggled to intensify given the overturning
of the airmass from previous storms.

A few of the remaining storms may still produce large hail and/or
damaging wind gusts given that 1000-1500 J/kg MLCAPE remain in place
amidst a strongly sheared airmass, especially in far east
Pennsylvania into New Jersey. In addition, strong low-level shear is
present, and a tornado cannot be ruled out with one of the stronger
   supercells.
