   TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 755
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   1025 AM CDT MON AUG 29 2005
   
   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
   TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
   
          CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN ALABAMA
          THE WESTERN FLORIDA PANHANDLE
          WEST CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST GEORGIA
          SOUTHERN AND EASTERN MISSISSIPPI
          COASTAL WATERS
   
   EFFECTIVE THIS MONDAY MORNING AND EVENING FROM 1025 AM UNTIL 700
   PM CDT.
   
   TORNADOES...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 80 MPH...AND DANGEROUS
   LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.
   
   THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 120 STATUTE
   MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 40 MILES WEST NORTHWEST OF
   LAUREL MISSISSIPPI TO 20 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF ALBANY GEORGIA.

   REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
   TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA.
   PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING
   WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE
   WARNINGS.
   
   OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...THIS TORNADO WATCH REPLACES TORNADO
   WATCH NUMBER 754. WATCH NUMBER 754 WILL NOT BE IN EFFECT AFTER
   1025 AM CDT. 
   
   DISCUSSION...HURRICANE KATRINA IS MOVING INLAND OVER THE MS COAST
   AND WILL CONTINUE NWD INTO CENTRAL MS THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING. 
   STRONG WIND FIELDS/SHEAR ARE PRESENT OVER A LARGE AREA N AND E OF
   THE STORM CORE...WHILE THE STRONGER LOW-LEVEL INSTABILITY EXISTS
   ALONG THE ERN FRINGE OF THE THICKER CLOUDS ACROSS ERN AL/WRN GA. 
   THE THREAT FOR TORNADOES WITH MULTIPLE BANDS E/NE OF THE CENTER WILL
   PERSIST THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND GRADUALLY EXPAND NWD INTO CENTRAL
   AL AND EWD INTO WRN GA.
   
   THE FORECAST MAXIMUM WIND GUSTS AND MEAN CELL MOTION APPLY TO SEVERE
   THUNDERSTORMS OUTSIDE THE HURRICANE EYEWALL.
   
   AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH EXTREME
   TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 70 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI
   WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 500. MEAN STORM MOTION VECTOR 15050.
