   Mesoscale Discussion 1352
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   1048 PM CDT Sun Jul 03 2022

   Areas affected...South-central South Dakota

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 424...

   Valid 040348Z - 040445Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 424
   continues.

SUMMARY...A severe threat may continue across parts of south-central
South Dakota late this evening. Wind damage and hail will be
possible. A weather watch extension in time, for a couple more
   hours, will occur.

DISCUSSION...The latest radar imagery from Rapid City shows a line
of strong to severe storms ongoing in southern South Dakota. These
storms will move eastward across south-central South Dakota over the
next couple of hours. Ahead of the line, the RAP has MLCAPE in the
2000 to 2500 J/kg range, with 0-6 km shear in the 35 to 40 knot
range. This should be favorable to continue the severe threat for a
couple more hours. Wind damage and hail would be possible with the
more intense parts of the line. But the severe threat could become
more isolated as the line moves further east.
