   Mesoscale Discussion 0872
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   1257 PM CDT Sun May 22 2022

Areas affected...portions of eastern Alabama into western Georgia

   Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely

   Valid 221757Z - 222000Z

   Probability of Watch Issuance...20 percent

SUMMARY...Damaging gust potential should continue with ongoing
storms for a couple more hours. It is unclear how long the severe
threat will continue into the afternoon and so a WW issuance is not
   currently expected.

DISCUSSION...A mature tropical MCS continues to propagate northward
across eastern AL/western GA at/over 40 kts with a history of strong
to marginally severe wind gusts. Mid 80s F surface temperatures
overspread by a well-mixed boundary layer have contributed to
enhanced evaporative cooling potential, thus effectively
strengthening cold pool intensity and forward propagation. Mid to
upper 80s F surface temperatures exist along a Montgomery County AL
to Laurens County GA line, but with temperatures decreasing into the
lower 80s F farther north. While organized damaging gust potential
should continue with this MCS for at least the next hour or so,
organized severe potential remains unclear in the cooler pre-MCS
surface airmass. As such, a WW issuance is not currently
   anticipated.
