   Mesoscale Discussion 1594
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0840 PM CDT Fri Jul 26 2019

Areas affected...East central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 542...

   Valid 270140Z - 270315Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 542
   continues.

SUMMARY...The severe threat continues in the southern half of severe
   thunderstorm watch 542.

DISCUSSION...A cluster of supercells has been persistent in the
northern suburbs of Minneapolis for the past hour with several
reports of 1 to 2 inch hail. There have been occasional attempts at
convection in the northern half of the watch between this cluster of
supercells and the line up near Lake Superior, but no convection has
been able to persist. Given the MLCIN from the 00Z MPX sounding,
additional convection is not anticipated outside of the ongoing
supercells north of MPX. Even this convection will likely weaken
below severe limits in the next 1 to 2 hours as CIN increases
further. Some evidence of these storms struggling with the capping
inversion has been apparent in the past 1 to 2 hours as the lead
   supercell dissipated quickly between 0030Z-0100Z.
