MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 0479
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0806 PM CDT WED APR 27 2016
AREAS AFFECTED...PORTIONS OF NORTHEASTERN MISSOURI...SOUTHEASTERN
IOWA...AND FAR WESTERN IL
CONCERNING...TORNADO WATCH 116...
VALID 280106Z - 280230Z
THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR TORNADO WATCH 116 CONTINUES.
SUMMARY...THE REMAINING TORNADO THREAT SHOULD GENERALLY BE CONFINED
TO NORTHEASTERN PORTIONS OF WW 166. THE THREAT SHOULD CONTINUE TO
DIMINISH THIS EVENING...AND NEW WW ISSUANCE IS NOT ANTICIPATED.
DISCUSSION...THE REGIONAL RADAR MOSAIC DEPICTS A BAND OF
STRONG/SEVERE CONVECTION PUSHING E/NE...IN TANDEM WITH FORCING FROM
ASCENT AHEAD OF AN IMPULSE ROTATING AROUND THE PERIPHERY OF A
MID/UPPER-LEVEL LOW OVER NEBRASKA. THE ORIENTATION OF SUCH ASCENT
WILL GRADUALLY NARROW THE CORRIDOR BETWEEN THE SOUTHERN END OF
ROBUST CONVECTION AND THE WARM FRONT. AS SUCH...THE WINDOW FOR
POTENTIAL TORNADOGENESIS /AS WELL AS STRONG STRAIGHT-LINE WINDS/
SHOULD CONTINUE TO CLOSE OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS. THEREFORE...WW 166
WILL LIKELY BE ALLOWED TO EXPIRE AT 02Z...AND ANY SEVERE THREAT
SHOULD REMAIN LIMITED ENOUGH TO PRECLUDE NEW WATCH ISSUANCE.
