Valid 180332Z - 180500Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 593, 595 continues. SUMMARY...A strong to damaging wind threat may continue eastward out of Severe Thunderstorm Watch 593 this evening. A new watch has been issued into southern Minnesota and northern Iowa to address this potential. DISCUSSION...A well-organized but small bowing thunderstorm cluster is progressing east-southeastward around 40 kt across far southeastern SD as of 0330Z. Multiple strong to severe wind gusts of 55-65 mph have been measured by various observing sites across this area over the past couple of hours, with KFSD reporting a gust to 47 mph at 0306Z. Although instability gradually decreases with eastward extent into southern MN and north-central IA, a modestly enhanced southwesterly low-level jet should aid continued storm organization and intensity through the remainder of the evening and into the early overnight hours. Given the ongoing linear convective mode, strong to damaging winds will likely remain the primary threat. Additional convective development along a cold front may occur into parts of northeastern NE into northwestern and west-central IA. ..Gleason/Guyer.. 08/18/2019 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product...
