The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 424
continues.

SUMMARY...The risk for mainly damaging winds and isolated instances
of large hail continues across the watch area.

DISCUSSION...Severe thunderstorms were in progress at 2030Z across
northwest SC/south-central North Carolina in association with a
long-lived southeast-moving convective system.  Radar reflectivity
from KGSP and KCAE show a continued strengthening of leading edge
updrafts, suggesting the damaging wind/isolated large hail risk will
continue as the line moves southeast along an instability gradient
into the early evening. 

Farther south across the watch area, thunderstorms over eastern
GA/southern SC have merged into a mix of clusters and short line
segments while generally moving east.  Strong surface-based
instability and steep low-level lapse rates will result in a
continued risk for damaging winds and perhaps severe hail as storms
move across eastern GA and the SC Low Country.
